Catch Sonia Li‘s work HEART in projection at Friday’s Interactive Show!

HEART highlights humanity’s deepest physical and emotional reserves to explore life from a theatrical perspective, structured loosely on my internal raw energy cultivated by dance. The dancers are portrayed as monumental statues exuding strength and femininity, advancing video medium to a theatrical and immersive format. In the process of filming, we improvised to explore visceral emotions of love, strength and struggle with their personal stories, creating emotionally driven images inspired by Pina Bausch’s dance theater. Influenced by Tibetan Murals, or ‘talking walls’, I use contemporary technology to activate ancient Buddhist spiritual teachings, including images of nature, humans, goddesses and symbolic portals for higher energetic vibration.

HEART will also on view at Lightbox May 3-5, 2019, as part of the CADAF Fair.

Reckoner+=Matthew return to NYC Resistor for a performance during the Interactive Show Friday 4/19:

Reckoner+=Matthew is a live performance project exploring interplay between analog and digital improvisation using sampled vocal chants, synthesizers and live coding to create beat music that rests on top of waveforms, probabilities and loop conditions. It comprises Sumanth Srinivasan and Matthew Kaney.

Reckoner+=Matthew grew as an act in the NYC live coding scene and have performed at Algoraves in the past, which emphasizes on performers typing code on stage to make improvised electronic music. The music, despite its unconventional process, retains elements of dance and pop music and indulges in danceable rhythms.

August 3-4-5 is EAGLE weekend!

Looking to meet likeminded electronics hobbyists and learn more about EAGLE PCB design software? Join our free meetup Friday August 3! It’ll be a celebration kicking off our weekend classes taught by our special guest, Autodesk’s Matt Berggren. So whether you’re an old pro looking to talk feature specifics or a maker interested in learning what it takes to launch a successful hardware crowdfunding campaign, come mingle with us. Refreshments kindly provided by Autodesk. RSVP is optional, but helps us better estimate the refreshments to provide.

Intro class:

Have you ever envied those beautiful green printed circuit boards (PCBs) that all modern electronics have? Do you want to kick up the professionalism in your projects with a real PCB? Would you like to simply learn how to better document your circuits with a nicely done schematic?

Sign up for this PCB design class and we’ll teach you how to use the awesome, free EAGLE PCB design program (Mac/PC/Linux). You’ll learn how to draw schematics, find the right footprint, lay out a circuit board, route the circuit board, and finally prepare the board for production. We’ll even show you where you can go to have your boards made.

Advanced class:

Are you an electronics hobbyist looking to create a product? Leap from newcomer to pro with this all-day class on designing your own schematics and printed circuit boards with Autodesk EAGLE. Lunch included.

Sign up for this advanced PCB design class and we’ll teach you everything you ever wanted to know about the awesome, free EAGLE PCB design program (Mac/PC/Linux). You’ll learn how to draw schematics, find the right footprint, lay out a circuit board, route the circuit board, and finally prepare the board for production. Come check out the Looking Glass lightfield + volumetric display at the Interactive Show on Saturday:

The Looking Glass is a new class of genuinely three-dimensional display that combines the benefits of volumetric and lightfield displays into a single system. Groups of people can now see and reach into the holographic worlds that live inside the glass walls of a Looking Glass, without VR or AR headgear. Designed for 3D creators (Maya, Cinema4D, ZBrush, Unity, Tinkercad, Blender…), the Looking Glass is a place for 3D digital creations of all types to live in the real world. The Looking Glass is launching Summer 2018.

Looking Glass Factory is a team of inventors, engineers, game devs, and artists – based in Brooklyn and Hong Kong – chasing the dream of the hologram. Specifically, the cinema dream of the hologram we were all promised in Star Wars, Iron Man, and Minority Report. Where groups of people can interact with floating 3D worlds. Since the founding of the company in 2014, Looking Glass Factory has launched a suite of products including volumetric prints, the L3D Cube, Volume, HoloPlayer One, and now coming this summer, the Looking Glass.
