Experience Jonah Brucker-Cohen’s WordPlay at the Interactive Show coming up June 10!

“WordPlay” is an interactive installation that allows people to create and publish novel stories by selecting individual words from a combination of word types. Using a similar method of the popular kid’s game, “Mad Libs”, WordPlay invites the public to choose from a selection of “nouns”, “verbs”, “adjectives”, and “adverbs” printed on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) cards and add them to system. WordPlay collects and visualizes each word by remixing a selection of text based quotes and facts. Once completed, the final story or passage is displayed on the screen allowing the public to read their stories. The resulting text is time stamped and encoded into a unique URL, and uploaded to the project’s website and Twitter where the public can read online what was created inside the exhibition space in realtime. Output from the project is here on the website: http://www.wordplay.xyz

“A stressful topic is written on a piece of paper. It is lit ablaze. A flame sensor picks up the burst of light and triggers an LED neon sculpture of a glyph signifying release.”

Come see Adelle Lin and Matt Pinner‘s new interactive art piece Sprite Beings at the Interactive Show June 10:

Ceramic containers are dipped, glazed, and fired, imprinting process and texture onto their surface. Custom software is coded for each sprite being, responding to their formal properties and titles, to create internal lights that shift in color and tone. When the sprites are placed next to each other, behavior emerges whereby they seemingly interact and synchronize with one another, shifting hues as if conversing, as they illuminate the internal ceramic body. These sprite beings invoke the feelings the artists have of grappling with external events, where one has to dig deep to find hope and inspiration. Each piece transcends the boundary of art and nature, organic versus man-made.
