So as not to leave my fellow hardware engineers unrepresented, I present my entry for day 3 of March Madness:
The following code implements (poorly, no doubt) the 64-bit floating point reciprocal approximation unit from the Cray-1 (in Verilog 2001). Warning, not for the faint of heart =)
Here’s a couple more additions for the March Madness Challenge. First, a image lens program using the HTML5 canvas tag. Next an OpenSCAD program to make beach rover wheels.
So today I decided to mix things up a bit. I figure, how else can one honor the time honored world of languages than by paying homage to the language wrought by Knuth himself…. LaTeX.

So, the March Madness 1 program a day challenge is in full swing. Here’s my contribution. Its not much in the way of code, but there definitely was coding involved in writing the scad file for the doorknob. Yup, its a programmatically generated and then 3D printed doorknob for the NYC Resistor front door. Made with OpenSCAD, QCad, and my MakerBot. Oh, its open source too and you can download it from Thingiverse.
Here’s my contribution for the March Madness program a day challenge. I only had a few minutes for this first one, so I did the easy thing with a “Hello, World.”
So, the folks over at Fubar Labs made a challenge to themselves and anyone else who wants to participate. Basically, write one program every day throughout the month of march. Any language, any function, but be creative. I doubt I can keep up the entire month, but it sounds like a really fun way to expand ones coding horizons and do some neat stuff. So anyways, here’s my first code for March Madness.
Move day is upon us, and we could certainly use all the help we can get! If you’ve got a few hours, please join us anytime during the move (10-6).
We’ll be meeting at 10am at 397 Bridge St, but if you can’t join us then, we’re sure to need helpers in the afternoon as the initial crew gets tired.

No normal craft night tonight! Instead anyone that feels so inclined can come by to New Resistor and help us paint the floor and the walls. Also maybe do some carpentry. It would be much appreciated, and this is your opportunity to write “fart” in primer on our elevator door!
