Zach Smith tells us about his Danger Shield for Arduino.

  1. Wow! That’s a pretty awesome shield packed with some cool little bits. Any chance at open sourcing the schematics or a parts list?

    Fantastic video

  2. heh, its hard to get the word out about every last bit of awesome.

the board is 100% open source. its even got its own sourceforge project.

    check it: http://make.nycresistor.com/ds-1.0

  3. This is sweet!
    Is the pcb available?

  4. Any interest in getting a batch of boards printed up for these so we can all make our own?

  5. YES, YES, I would be interested in buying a board if a batch of them is going to be made!

  6. Oh, yes, I’d buy a board fer sure.
Looks like you have a market here…..

  7. I’d buy one in a heartbeat 🙂

  8. Zach –

I have a ton of friends and colleagues that would be interested in your Arduino classes, but cannot be in NY to take them. Can we put together a web-meeting type coarse? Please contact me to discuss this further 🙂 We are located in San Diego, Seattle and San Francisco mostly.

  9. I would love to be involved in any kind of web courses, and sign me up if the board goes on sale. (even if it’s just the board itself without the components)

  10. I saw this article back in April. I’m still waiting for a PCB or kit I can buy. Any plans? If Zach isn’t interested, then maybe it’s something for ladyada?

  11. Wow this thing is awesome.

If this would be able to communicate back to the pc through the ftdi chip, it would be an awesome DJ controller.

I mean, 3 sliders (ableton live tracks), a tap sensor (bpm tap-in, also ableton live), touch sensors (like a crude d-beam controller?)

This would be awesome, and sell like hot (like, paris hilton style “that’s hot”) cakes.

    Congrats on the awesome shield!

  12. I posted links to this project to a thread on the arduino forum asking someone to make these. I see that the board is marked GPL 2.0, so I hope it is ok for them to do that. Please let me know if I am wrong, but I think it would be great if it were available to people who can’t make it to a NYCR class.

    My post is here:

Thanks for a great design! I can’t wait to be soldering mine together.
